Хід уроку
І. Warm up
Divide
children into two groups. There is a table with adjectives on the blackboard.
Funny, unreliable, self-confident, caring, imaginative, outgoing,
helpful, rude, easy-going, stubborn, cooperative, selfish, shy, disorganize,
forgetful, active, lazy, loyal, arrogant, polite
|
Which
of these adjectives describe positive/negative qualities of a person’s
character?
Check
students' answers.
II.
Describing a subject you use adjectives but sometimes you should use their opposite
forms.

Form
adjectives by adding suffixes to the following nouns and verbs. W/b Ex.5, 6, p.5
ІІI. Check the home task.
IV. Write on the board: "She is
kind. She is polite”. Then write "She
is kind and polite as well”. Explain that and, also, as well link
similar qualities. Follow the same procedure to present linking opposing
qualities using the wards/phrases but, on the other hand, however. Focus students’ attention on the
phrases tends to be/ can be before a negative quality adjectives.

a) Join the ideas using: and, also, however, but, on the other hand. S/b. Ex.5, p.9
b) Students look at the list of adjectives at the blackboard and make sentences about people they know, using: and,
also, as well, but, however, on the other hand.
e.g. Tom is friendly and caring as well.
V. a) Look at the pictures of these people.(They
are at the blackboard)They are at the different ages.
13-19 = teens
20-29 = twenties
30-39 = thirties, etc.
b) (Show the girls’ portrait) Imagine that
the girl is 13. It means that she is in her early teens.
The
girl is 15. It means that she is in her mid teens.
The
girl is 19. It means that she is in her late teens.
c)
Fill in the gaps with: early, mid, late. S/b. Ex. 6, p.9.
VI. Read the
instructions to the exercise 7, page 9 (S/b) and explain the task. Ask students to describe the people in the
pictures and predict their age. Play the CD twice, if necessary. Students
listen and complete the task.
Check students' answers.
VII. Allow students some time to
read the descriptions and match them to the pictures in Ex. 7, p.9(S/b). Students read the descriptions again and
fill in the table. Then they use the information and talk about the people.
VIII. W/b. Ex. 7, p.5. Match the
people in the pictures A – D to the descriptions 1 – 4. Then, using the same
words, describe one of them in writing.
One of the students reads his
description.
