Answer:Hi friends!
How are you? What are you doing at your holiday? Don’t you want to come to our cottage to spend a couple of weeks or so?
Our cottage is situated 40km from the city in Ivanivka. The place is really great, the village stands at the Desna and there is a pine forest nearby. A lot of young people come to the village to their relatives and friends, so you can spend fantastic time swimming, sunbathing, hiking and dancing and making new friends at the disco in the local club. There is a big supermarket in the center of the village, so don’t worry for the food. You can come in early July and spend 2 weeks there.

III.Task: Talk about the advantages and disadvantages of living in a private house. Say: what good points are; what problems you may have; if you would like to live in a private house and why.
Answer:I would like to start with the famous English proverb " My home is my castle”. Hearing the proverb we picture not a multi-stored block of flats, but a cosy and comfortable private house. Nowadays, when you can easily have all necessary modern conveniences and labour-saving devices in a private house, living in a cottage is becoming more and more popular.
There are some advantages of living in a private house.
The first advantage is the layout. As a rule it is situated in an outskirt of the city, where the air is much cleaner and the scenery is much more picturesque. You can enjoy peace and quiet which you can hardly find in the city.
Many people who live in the city dream about spending their weekend in the country and you can have such delight every day.
Secondly there is always a plot of ground near the private house. It can be a really big plot with an orchard and a kitchen-garden or a small patch of land. But if you are really fond of gardening or growing flowers you can enjoy your hobby literary without leaving your house.
The house itself can be as big as you want. You can expand it, rebuild, reconstruct, if it is necessary, so that every family member can have their own room.
Living in a private house you can easily keep as many pets as you wish. You can allow yourself even the biggest dog and you won’t have the problems you can have keeping it in a flat.
However there are some drawbacks too. First of all you will ,have to take care of all the household facilities by yourself. A private house demands a lot of care and attention. During the snowy winter you will have, for example, to clean all this snow by yourself. Besides you can sometimes feel really lonely. If you don’t have a car, you can meet the problem of getting to the city, because as a rule there are too few routes of commuting transport in suburbs. So, it is obviously better to have a car when you live somewhere in a suburb. When you live outside the city there are not many places for shopping there. So you have to do your shopping at the weekend.

Answer: Hi, guys,
I’m awfully sorry, but I can’t join you on a picnic, because my plans have changed. My granny felt bad in the morning and I my mom asked me to stay with her till evening when she and dad come back from work - you understand that I couldn’t say no. it’s a pity I can’t go with you but I promise that the next weekend we will spend together. If the weather is good we’ll go on a picnic then, OK?
III Task: talk about the sport you enjoy watching and explain why. Say: if it is a winter or summer kind of sport; where it is held; what your favourite athlete or team is.
Answer: I would like to tell you about my favourite sport. It is tennis. I really enjoy watching it and always feel exited and thrilled when my favourite players win.
Tennis is a summer sport and can be played either between 2 single players or between two teams of two players. As for me I like watching singles. Single players are more responsible for the game and watching their play is easier and exiting, because your attention is not distracted by other players.
Although tennis is a summer sport it can be played both indoors and outdoors. Playing indoors does not depend on the season. The most important thon in tennis is the court. The surface may be grass, ground, concrete or a kind of artificial carpet. Each type of the surface differs from the rest in the way the ball bounces from it because it influences the speed of the ball or the direction it moves. The players must take all the things into consideration when they start playing.
It’s much more exiting to watch the game when one of the players is left-handed. The sportsmen are usually get used to right-handed rivals and have to adapt fast to the different way of playing. The one who does it faster usually wins.
Nowadays tennis is more than just a sport. Successful players are becoming real celebrities, fashion icons and role models and sometimes earns more money by being shot in ads than by competing in different tournaments. On the one hand it is good, because it increases public interest to the sport and thus attracts more fans. On the other hand young sportsmen starts thinking more about signing contracts with different companies, then about achieving great results in the sport.
Tennis tournaments themselves became a public events long ago/ even monarchs and presidents attend these events, that’s why tennis is officially considered a very noble and even slightly snobbish sport.
The prestigious grand Slam tournaments are a real event in big sport. They are held annually and include the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimledon, and the US Open. I always watch them carefully and enjoy the play of the most famous and professional players.
My favourite player is Olena Bondarenko. She is the best Ukrainian tennis player and now she takes the 53rd place in the world rating.
I dream of going to the tournament one day and watch the game with my own eyes and not on TV.
Card 22 (2011) II Task: You are on holiday at the seaside and have just bought a postcard to send to your friend. In your postcard you should: explain when your holiday started; tell your friend where you are staying; what you are enjoying most about the holiday.
Answer: Hi buddy!
I’m on holiday now in Odessa now. We came here last Sunday and staying at Perlyna Hotel. The suit is comfortable and it takes us only 15 minutes to get to the sea. We are spending all days on the beach, swimming, sunbathing and having a lot of fun. At nights we are hanging out at discos.
I’ve bought some souvenirs for you. We are going back home in 2 weeks.

Answer: Can you imagine our life without music?I think that nowadays it is absolutely impossible. We hear it everywhere: on TV and radio, in buses and cars, even in shops and supermarkets.
There are a lot of different kinds of music. Some of them appeared long ago, while others are quite modern. As a rule elderly people prefer to listen to classic or folk music and young people obviously like more cheerful and energetic tunes, like rap, pop or rock.
Young people usually listen to music a lot, I can say that we are literally obsessed with music. As for me, I listen to music since early morning and till the time I go to bed. I listen to it even when I do my homework!
My favourite Ukrainian band is "Okean Elzy” I think that it plays a real music, which appeals to our souls, the members of the rock group always manage to combine the beauty of tone and lyrics in their songs. By the way, "Okean Elzy” has won a lot of musical awards and is already well-known in many countries, for example, in Russia it is extremely popular.
As for the kind of music I like, I think that there is no good or bad type of music, all music is beautiful if it is composed to express the true feelings of the creator. Of course I have certain preferences: as a rule I listen to pop-rock or folk-rock, but I have some pop-singers I like to listen to and sometimes I feel like listening to some popular classic melodies. but I don’t like hard-rock because of its aggressiveness and depressive lyrics.
Unfortunately I don’t play any musical instruments, but I have always been dreaming about learning to play the guitar. I have a lot of friends and when we gather together I could play the guitar for we could sing songs. And I also would like to learn to dance well. My favourite TV show is "Everybody dance!”("Танцуют все!” ) and I always admire the talent and skills of the contestants.

Answer: Attention all the school-leavers of Chernihiv school 2!
You are invited to the annual meeting of the school leavers. It will take place in the school assembly hall on Friday, February, 2nd, at 5p.m. After the concert you can meet your teaches and former classmates and have a lot of happy moments recalling your school years. Bring cameras and good spirit with you.
III Task: Last week you have a birthday party. Talk about the celebration. Include this information: what you prepared for the party; what you and your friends did at the party; what presents you have got.
Answer: I would like to tell you about my 15th birthday party. It was a really memorable occasion.
My mother and me had started our preparations a week before the event. I had decorated my house with coloured lights and balloons. My mom had made an enormous birthday cake and a lot of delicious dishes. I was lucky to be born on the 2nd of January, that’s why a big Christmas tree always stands in the living-room on my birthday.
My friends started to arrive at about 11a.m. They brought me as a birthday present the thing I had been dreaming for months – a set of CDs with all the Beetles songs. There weren’t many people – just three my best friends – but we managed to make a lot of noise! At first we tasted all the dishes and then began to play different games like Twister and made great mess. We laughed, told jokes – in a word, had a really fantastic time.
Then we decided to go to the hill in the city park to ride down and play snowballs. We enjoyed our adventure very much and a photographer, who was taking photos there, paid his attention on us. He offered to take some photos and of course we agreed. After that we came back to my place and have delicious tea with my birthday cake. At about 7p.m. my guests went home.
It was certainly the best birthday party I have ever had and my friends share my thoughts. I think we will remember it for all our lives.
By the way, the photos that were made that day by the photographer in the city park appeared some weeks later in our city newspaper.
