III Task: Talk about the seaside holiday you went on and describe its good and bad points. Include this information: when and where you went on holiday; general description of the holiday; good and bad points; your recommendation.
Answer: Good morning, my name is and I’m a student of the 9th form. I would like to tell you about the advantages and disadvantages of spending your holidays at the seaside.

Nowadays travelling is the most popular kind of spending free time. A lot of people prefer to go to the seaside for their holidays. There are a number of reasons for such a decision.
First of all you have a brilliant opportunity to change your daily routine. You can spend the whole day on the beach, sunbathe, swim and paddle, pick up seashells and pebbles, play beach volleyball or rent a boat or a water scooter. You can also go to the amusement arcades and play different games. Sometimes you can ride a horse or a donkey at the beach. Numerous funfairs and rides like the big dipper or big wheel are situated right on the front for the holiday-makers’ convenience.
Very often amusement parks with different attractions, such as roller-coasters, see-saws and merry-go-rounds or water theme parks are situated at the seaside.
Besides, there are a lot of cozy cafes and bars at the beach, where you can have a snack or buy some refreshments.
Moreover, at night the life at the seaside becomes even more active and exciting. You can go to different discos and clubs or buy a ticket to a concert hall, a cinema or a theater.
In a word, you will never be bored at the seaside.
The weak point is the seaside prices. Everything is very expensive at high season, and you have to think well while planning your day.
Another drawback is that the seaside resorts are awfully overcrowded in summer. It seems that you have to spend hours in queues before you can get either a glass of juice or your turn to a merry-go-round.
There also can be problems with buying tickets, if you go by plane or train. So you’d better book a return ticket, when you go to the seaside. If you go there by car, you can have problems with finding a parking place.
You should be careful as for your health. Don’t lie in the sun from 10a.m. to 4p.m. Use special creams for tan before going to the beach and after it. Sea waves can be very dangerous, so don’t swim far away and don’t stay long in the water not to catch a cold.
You should also be careful as for the food you eat. Stomach infections are quite common for people on holidays. Don’t buy any food if it smells or looks strange. Keep the food in a fridge.
Seaside resorts are paradise for different kinds of swindlers, twisters, thieves and pickpockets. keep your money in a safe place and don’t speak to a suspicious strangers.

Tell them about: a possibility to join the party( state the time, place, number of people); the kinds of entertainment; the holiday dishes.
Hi, friends!
We are going to have a New Year party at our school and we’ll be really glad to see you at the party. We are planning to have it on Friday, on the 25th of December, at 7p.m. It will last for 2 hours or so. We hope that the time suits you perfectly. It will be a brilliant opportunity to make new friends, to learn some new moments about the way of life of the youth of our country and to practice your Ukrainian of course.
We are planning to have a fancy dress party. So the dress code is the carnival style – you know, any costumes you wish and like, everything connected with the New Year theme will be highly appreciated.
We are going to have a small concert – some extracts from famous musicals, our school ball dance group will show some dances and our school band will perform some famous New Year songs
We have prepared some games and quizzes to make our party more exciting. The questions will be about the tradition of celebrating New Year in different countries, and winners will get very special and unexpected prizes!
We are also going to have a karaoke contest to find out the best performer of the New Year songs.
After the concert there will be a festive table with some traditional Ukrainian Christmas dishes, as in Western Ukraine they celebrate Christmas like in the whole Europe, on the 24th of December. So you will be able to try our traditional Christmas dish ‘kutya’, which is in fact very similar to old Christmas pudding as it used to be prepared in Middle-Aged England. A traditional Christmas drink in Ukraine is "uzvar” – it is a drink with dried apples, pears, plums and cherries.
Now we are busy with preparing special decorations: we are installing a huge fir-tree in the assembly hall and decorating the hall with balloons, streamers, garlands and lights. We are going to hang a bunch of mistletoe in the doorway so that everybody can kiss entering the hall. May be you could help us with some more fresh ideas as for making our party more interesting. Any help or ideas will be highly appreciated.
Taking into consideration security issue, we are going to invite only students of our school and guests from the exchange programme. No more that 100 people are expected to come. No alcohol or sigarretes are admitted. The school security service and the teachers will be in charge of the party. You can be sure that everything will be okay and go without any troubles. After the party you can get to your accommodation by a special bus.
So we are sure you won’t regret if you come to the party. We are looking forward to seeing you there.

III Task: talk about a famous landmark you have visited. Include this information: Where it is? How is it called? What can you see and do there? What was the best thing about your trip?
Answer: Speaking about the landmarks of Ukraine we can’t but mentioned the gem of the Carpathians, one of the most beautiful and famous cities of Western Ukraine – Lviv. Its narrow streets, castles, cozy parks and famous cafes make it one of the best places to visit.
It was founded as a fort in the mid 13th century by Danylo Halitsky and was named after his son Leo. For centuries it has been Western Ukraine’s main city. It produces industrial machinery and equipment, textile products, clothes, sugar. It is the leading bus-manufacturing centre.
Its museums, monuments, theatres, churches and monasteries, its famous castle attracts a lot of tourists from Ukraine and foreign countries.
I visited Lviv on my spring holiday and must admit that it produces unforgettable impression on me.
One of the most memorable places you can see is the Lviv History Museum. It is one of the oldest and richest Ukrainian museums, which was founded in 1893. its collection comprises more than 320 000 artifacts connected with Ancient Rus and Middle Ages in Galicia.
The Museum’s major collections include works of art and old coins, orders and medals, arms and weapons. No wonder that one building couldn’t house the whole collection. The Museum’s buildings include houses #4, 6, 24 on Rynok Square. The magnificent architecture of the 16-18th centuries charms the visitors even without mentioning the treasures stored inside. And, when you start observing the museum collections, you lose all sense of time. The numerous exibitions tell about the activities of Prince Danylo of Galicia, the fight led by Hetman Bohdan Khmelnitsky, other historical events in Galicia.
In my opinion, the most interesting items are exhibited in the Town Arsenal. The one can see the collection of arms and weapons dated back to 13- 19th centuries from more than 40 countries. The collection of the famous Polish "Wing Hussars” is the richest in the world. Another Museum’s attractions is the collection of the 18th century furniture, china, silver works and clocks, preserved and shown in the Royal Chambers at #6, Rynok Square.
The most I liked the handwritten "Khrystynopilsky Apostle” of the 12th century and the Order of Andrew Pervozvanny.
Looking back into my reflection of the trip, I think that we are very happy to live in the country with such glorious history and rich culture.

III. Task: You have decided to go to the Carpathian Mountains for a few days. Talk about your trip. Include this information: how long the trip is; where you are going to stay; what you are going to do there.
Answer: No begin with I would like to give you some general information about the Carpathian Mountains. They are considered to be the Green Pearl of Ukraine. It is one of the most popular resorts and tourist centres of the country. A beautiful mix of natural areas, forests, meadows, shepherds and humans living in harmony with nature is what makes the mountains so attractive to tourists! An original nature of territory, beauty of its Alpine meadows and woods, rough rivers and mountain lakes, soft climate, curative mineral sources, the historical and architectural monuments can attract everyone to themselves. Thousands of tourists and people who like travels and adventures come here. The Ukrainian Carpathians are relatively gentle peaks that rise as high as 2061 m (Mt. Hoverla)
If you visit the Carpathians, you will not find yourself in an extreme blizzards or dying from severe hypothermia. The Carpathians benefit from having a relatively mild temperature in winter time. Lowest winter temperatures are around -10 C to -15 C (5 F to 14 F). In summer time the weather is agreeably warm. Throughout the year, the Carpathians do get quite a bit of rainfall. However, this is spread out evenly through the year.
The Carpathian mountains dominate the region with their forests, rivers, lakes, alpine meadows, towns and villages. The region is rich in culture, activity and history. It is ideal for summer holidays walking, riding, mountain climbing, exploring. Equipped campsites, hikers' refuges, groomed hiking trails or signs are very rare. Topographical maps with hiking routes can be obtained at the resorts or from the local inhabitants who provide accommodation to tourists. It is highly advisable to bring rain gear. Drinking water is widely available from the mountain brooks and streams.
So, if I went to the Carpathians I would choose a famous town resort Slavsko, which is situated 130km from Lviv.
Slavsko or locally known as Slavske is a popular winter and resort town in the Eastern Beskids Range of the Carpathian mountains in western Ukraine with a population of 3,700. It's one of the biggest Ukrainian winter sports centres. Slavsko is located 600 meters above sea level in the Skole district in Lviv Oblast, close to the town of Skole, 130 km southwest of Lviv.
Slavske is the heart of Boykivshchyna region, a place that welcomes real fans of beauty, people who desire to feel themselves part of this wonderful world anytime during any season.
Slavske is situated in the beautiful valley of the Opir river – land full of legends – local people still know whereabouts of old Drevlian tribe prince Sviatoslav's grave, a prince who died in the battle overhere in 1015. Some researchers think that settlement raised near the 10th century, but its name has an ancient Slavonic origin of Slavka River or with glorious fighters of prince Sviatoslav. The first documentary recollection about Slavske like settlement dates back to 1483.
In Slavsko we could stay at Perlyna Hotel, whichhas been open since 1987. The staff of the hotelcreates comfortable and relaxing conditions for their guests to rest with a European level of service and genuine Ukranian hospitality.
There you can find comfortable rooms in Carpathian style, restaurant and bar with delicious food. You can have real luxury in the mountains.
If you are interested in Green tourism they can offer you a lot of interesting excursions, learn the magic of Ukrainian traditions and holidays. You can go hiking or horse riding or if you are fond of fishing you can enjoy your hobby, because the hotel is situated only 100mts to the river.
